This index helps identify U.S. Forever stamps by issue period and subject. “Forever” describes postage value, not one permanent design: USPS has issued flowers, flags, people, holidays, art, vehicles, wildlife, and commemorative subjects since the first Forever stamp appeared in 2007.
How to identify a Forever stamp
- Start with the exact image, color, orientation, and visible text.
- Check whether FOREVER is printed or digitally crossed out in a sales image; the strike-through is normally a specimen-image protection, not damage to the physical stamp.
- Compare the design with an official USPS release or Postal Bulletin announcement.
- Record pane, booklet, coil, or sheet format; similar artwork can appear in different products.
- Do not infer market value from age alone. Condition, format, scarcity, and demand matter.

Design eras
2007–2011: establishing the format
The Liberty Bell introduced the Forever concept in 2007. Early issues trained customers to recognize a nondenominated stamp whose value rises with the one-ounce letter rate.
2012–2019: broader subjects and formats
As Forever pricing became familiar, commemorative and special subjects increasingly used the format. Identification therefore depends on issue records, not simply the FOREVER inscription.
2020–2026: a dense modern program
Modern issues span social history, natural subjects, popular culture, celebrations, and major events. Official announcements are especially valuable because search listings may omit pane format, designer credit, or the distinction between an announcement year and issue year.
Using designs for postage
All genuine unused regular Forever designs have the same current domestic one-ounce letter value. A design’s age or subject does not change that postal value. Global Forever, additional-ounce, postcard, and semipostal stamps are separate denominations and should not be grouped solely because their designs are similar.
